Active Living

A Location Centered Around You

Friendsview’s location in Newberg and Yamhill County offers the best of everything. Situated only 25 miles southwest of Portland and less than an hour from the spectacular Oregon coast, Newberg is a great place to live. The relaxed pace and friendly people of the community combine with the cultural and recreational activities of the area to provide great small town living with easy access to the metropolitan activities that make Portland one of America’s most livable cities.

george-fox-universityGeorge Fox University, right across the street from our campus, offers educational opportunities, library access, theatre performances, concerts, sports events and other programs. Great golf courses, hiking trails, stream and lake fishing and picturesque parks are all nearby. Have other interests? Just ask. There is something for everyone close by.

Residents here become so busy with activities, friends and programs, they often wonder what they did with all their time before they moved in. Most tell us they wish they had moved sooner so they could enjoy the atmosphere and carefree lifestyle longer. No mowing the yard, no painting or cleaning the gutters — all of those chores of daily life are taken care of, freeing you to enjoy your new lifestyle. Our goal is to make things simpler for you so that you have the time and energy to do what you want to do. That’s the reason our campuses are centered around you!

Lifelong Learning and Personal Well-being

Lifelong learning and programs for personal well-being are at the heart of Friendsview. Our relationship with George Fox University means free access to their library and enrollment in classes for audit or credit.

Friendsview has an active education committee that arranges for classes and lectures in our own classroom. Travel and book clubs are also available.

This focus on well-being forms the center of our mission. Studies show that wellness programs in all aspects of a senior’s life enhance successful aging.

Friendsview has two fitness locations/centers with a full-time certified fitness coordinator. Nature trails around our campus, and access to GFU’s campus environment provide paths for outdoor enjoyment. Resident committees and staff coordinate a variety of vocational and educational classes and lectures in our classroom and arts center, along with trips to local and regional sites of interest.
