Cook II

Job Summary: Under limited supervision, using the batch cooking method, prepares entrees including homemade soups, sauces according to weekly menus and special dietary plans

 

Essential Functions

  1. Prepare and cook all menu items according to weekly menus using safe food handling practices. recipes, production sheets using safe food handling practices.
  2. Inform management of changes and varieties for signage in a timely manner.
  3. Monitors production to determine quality and palatability
  4. Oversee prep staff for special diet preparation.
  5. Solve problems as they arise professionally, rapidly and fairly.

Safety and Sanitation

  1. Adheres to all Health Department and OSHA regulations.
  2. Maintains daily reporting of Time and Temperature and accurate labeling, dating and rotating of all food products.
  3. Monitors cooler for cleanliness and organization, following First-in-First-out policy
  4. Maintains a clean and organized cooking area. Follows a daily and weekly cleaning checklist.
  5. Adheres to injury/accident, safety equipment, and other department policies & standards.
  6. Adheres to the uniform and cut glove policy.

Customer Service, Staff & Client Relations

  1. Treats all customers, staff and management with professionalism, care and respect.
  2. Adheres to Friendsview’s philosophy, culture and commitment to quality food and service
  3. Supports staff and management in developing a sense of teamwork and cooperation with willingness to contribute as needed or assigned.

  Other Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assist with grocery check –in
  2. Follow posted schedule and get approval from management for any changes to the schedule.
  3. Attend staff and safety meetings.
  4. Any other duties as assigned by supervisor

Physical

Must be able to stand, walk and exert well paced mobility for period of up to four (4) hours in length. Must be able to lift up to 25lbs and use proper lifting skills.

Working Conditions

Work in a clean, well-lighted and ventilated kitchen. Hazards typical to a food service kitchen (hot cooking surfaces, electrical equipment, wet floors, sharp objects and hazardous cleaning chemicals)

 

BSP Exposure: Category II

Your tasks and normal routines involve no exposure to blood, body fluids or tissues. In the event of an unexpected blood, body fluid or tissue spill there will be an employee available who has been designated to take responsibility for clean-up and decontamination of potentially infectious body substances. You are not to come in contact with potentially infectious body substances

Required Knowledge and Experience

A minimum of 5 years as a production cook or 2 years experience and a culinary education   Must possess verbal and written English language skills necessary to accurately follow instructions and to work safely in fast-paced environment with close proximity to co-workers and equipment.   Able to operate kitchen equipment in a safe manner including but not limited to mixer, food processor, grinder, steam kettle, ovens and knives.

This position is Full Time Regular 32+ hours per week and fully benefitted after 60 days of employment.

Hourly Rate $12.30-$13.25 an hour depending on experience.
