Now hiring Part Time Dietary Aide for our health services dining areas.

Job Objective/ Summary: Under limited supervision and following the individual nutrition (a.k.a. dietary) plans, sets up, prepares, serves meals and snacks and provides assistance as needed and cleans up in all health care dining areas.

Essential Functions:

Dietary Services

  • On a daily basis, checks and/or updates nutrition plans of residents in health care areas.
  • Follows individual nutrition plans to prepare portions, special diets and textures.
  • Stocks and prepares nourishment (snacks) for health center according to individual nutrition plans and special requests.
  • Sanitation and Safety
  • Cleans tables and work areas using proper bussing, cleaning and sanitation procedures.
  • Sets up tables according to dept. guidelines.
  • Adheres to all Health Department and OSHA regulations.
  • Serving Resident’s Special Needs
  • Courteously greets and communicates in a manner that effectively meets individual needs.
  • Offers substitutes food when requested in accordance to nutrition plan.
  • After completing “Dining Assistance Training”, assists with feeding according to individual needs.
  • Immediately alerts charge nurse or other nursing staff of any problems or concerns regarding residents.
  • Customer Service, Staff & Client Relationships
  • Treats all customers, staff and management with professionalism, care and respect.
  • Upholds the philosophy of the Health Care Center to enhance the dignity and self-esteem of all residents.
  • Supports staff and management in developing a sense of teamwork and cooperation with willingness to contribute as needed or assigned.
  • Adheres to Friendsview’s policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintains confidentiality and respects residents privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Follows posted schedule and get approval from management for any changes to the schedule.
  • Must be able to maintain consistent attendance as per job requirements and Friendsview’s policies.
  • Adheres to the injury/accident, uniform and other department policies & standards
  • Attends staff and safety meetings.
  • Attends and participates in orientation, training and educational activities as required (may include: Alzheimer’s/Dementia, Dining Assistance Training, C.P.R.).
  • Dresses appropriately, following appropriate dress and uniform policies and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
    • Must maintain current C.P.R. certification.
  • Supervising (direct reports and level of supervision): Not responsible for supervision, but may guide the work of serving staff in health care areas.
  • Decision Making: General supervision and a set of broadly understood position expectations. Decision-making with limited discretion, latitude, or negotiation. Assistance or resources are readily available.
  • Interpersonal Skills/Interactions: Communications are routine and non-routine in nature and require discussion. Communication and interpersonal skills are important and refined.

Additional Skills & Abilities:

  • Must demonstrate qualities of a strong servant leader and team player who helps those served grow as persons, become wiser, freer and more autonomous; and still provides a systematic, data-oriented perspective to business decisions.
  • Must possess verbal & written English language skills necessary to understand and follow dietary plans and interact effectively with residents with physical, cognitive or social impairments.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass the Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check and, if applicable, fingerprinting.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks.
  • Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation.
  • Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the US.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record (if required to drive).


Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category II: Your tasks involve no routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or other contaminated materials. In the event of an unexpected blood, body fluid or tissue spill there will be an employee available who has been designated to take responsibility for clean-up and decontamination of potentially infectious body substances. You are not to come in contact with potentially infectious body substances.


Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to stand, walk and exert well paced mobility for period of up to four (4) hours in length. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs and use proper lifting skills. Sufficient manual-dexterity to do cleaning & food prep tasks.
    • Work in a clean, well-lighted and ventilated kitchen. Hazards typical to a food service kitchen (hot cooking surfaces, electrical equipment, wet floors, sharp objects and hazardous cleaning chemicals).

This position is Part Time Regular up to 29 hours per week ; vacation, sick, personal and retirement eligible.

Hourly Rate depending on experience.
