This position is Temporary 30 hours a week; 830pm-730am Thursday, Friday and Saturdays.

Job Objective/ Summary: Provides a safety presence for residents, staff, and visitors to Friendsview during the night shift. Patrols buildings and grounds at all locations according to established policies and procedures. Serves as first-line response to emergency situations and maintenance as needed.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides escort and other basic assistance to residents, visitors and staff as necessary.
  • Patrols buildings and grounds for all Friendsview campus and non-campus areas, including remote locations, on foot, bicycle, and/or in motor vehicle as required, to ensure personal, building, grounds, and equipment safety following established safety protocol and procedures.
  • Examines doors, windows, and gates to ensure they are properly closed and/or locked; uses Friendsview keys to open and close buildings; monitors closed buildings and security system for unauthorized persons and/or suspicious activities.
  • Monitors for irregularities, such as security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations (such as fire, theft, vandalism & illegal entry). Provides first line response to emergency situations, which includes communication to appropriate management and emergency responders, such as police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel as required, and following established protocols and procedures; and incident documentation.; contacts appropriate. Reports issues of imminent danger to the Health Center charge nurse.
  • Remains alert and monitors for the presence of unauthorized persons on the grounds and/or suspicious activity such as loitering and smoking. Notifies and cooperates with appropriate authorities, regarding suspicious and/or potentially dangerous activities. Observes activities, as required, until authorities arrive, which may include the police. Files a report to the Facilities Director as part of routine shift communications.
  • Reports staff parking violations to the Health Center charge nurse, and Facilities Services Director (as part or routine shift communications).
  • Completes facilities set-ups, turnovers, and moving of furniture, chairs and miscellaneous equipment as requested in a timely manner.
  • Performs some simple preventative maintenance inspections, specifically, the monthly inspections on all fire extinguishers; and inspecting, stocking and maintaining safety supply kits as per the Emergencies & Emergency Medical Plan.
  • Responds to requests for adjustment in temperature per permissible procedures, reports equipment failure, and assists in making needed maintenance and repairs.
  • Prepares routine, standardized reports as requested.
  • Adheres to Friendsview’s policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintains confidentiality and respects residents privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
