Friendsview Residents Site
We moved to Friendsview Retirement Community on September 30, 2003. Since then we’ve discovered that no one should worry about whether they’ll have anything to do here. There are so many interesting activities, classes and programs, as well as opportunities for day-trips with other residents on the Friendsview bus.
Much of our time we spend volunteering at Friendsview and at George Fox University across the street. We enjoy working in our garden plot as well as helping in the resale shop on the lower level of the manor building. Norman also helps maintain the Hess Creek canyon, part of Friendsview’s campus, as habitat for wildlife and an attractive part of the Friendsview campus. We’re as busy as we want to be staying as active as possible.
Living across the street from George Fox University was a big draw in making our decision to settle at Friendsview. We enjoy sports events, dramas, musicals and opportunities to volunteer there. Norman spends many hours a month helping on campus in various ways. We’ve also enjoyed the chance to get acquainted with students. It’s good to take part in this wider community.
The secure atmosphere here and the social and spiritual values that are an essential part of Friendsview mean a lot to us. We’re convinced that it makes good sense to live in this pleasant place that besides all else offers the potential for health care. We say, “It’s a bargain.” We know from personal experience with a family member how quickly the high cost of nursing home care can eat up one’s life savings.
We’re so glad that we moved here when we did.
