Now hiring Part Time Buffet Host/Hostess to work in our main dining room.

Job Objective/ Summary:

Responsible for setting and opening of the dining room, greeting & assisting residents with POS and handling food in accordance with recognized food serving standards, providing a level of customer service that upholds the fine dining standards of Friendsview.

Essential Functions:

  • Sets up needed dining seating arrangements and prepares beverages for meals
  • Greets residents & guests, and provides information re: meal service and POS system
  • Attends to the needs of all residents and guest during meal service, answers questions and provides any needed items
  • Keeps buffet stocked with food items and maintains sanitation & appearance
  • Take meal reservations as assigned

 

  • Assists wait staff with all aspects of meal service
  • Adheres to Friendsviews policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintains confidentiality and respects residents privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

Sanitation and Safety

  • Cleans all serving areas using proper bussing, cleaning and sanitizing procedures
  • Restocks as needed and refills beverage machines
  • Immediately reports any safety concerns or hazards to supervisor

Customer Service, Staff & Client Relationships

  • Knowledgably & courteously answers questions regarding meal service, POS, food preparation & ingredients
  • Serves meals to residents in main dining room according to department standards
  • Removes dishes etc. from tables according to fine dining protocols
  • Treats all customers, staff and management with professionalism, care and respect

 

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supports staff and management in developing a sense of teamwork and cooperation with willingness to contribute as needed or assigned
  • Performs all of the duties of Wait Staff I as needed
  • Adheres to Friendsviews values, culture and commitment to quality food and service.
  • Follows posted schedule and get approval from management for any changes to the schedule.
  • Attend staff and safety meetings.
  • Adheres to all Health Department and OSHA regulations.
  • Adheres to the injury/accident, uniform and other department policies & standards
  • Demonstrates the values of Friendsview Retirement Community: integrity, stewardship, compassion, community, excellence, dignity, service, Friends heritage.
  • Attends, participates in, and completes orientation, training and educational activities as required.
  • Dresses appropriately, following appropriate dress and uniform policies and guidelines.
  • Must be able to maintain consistent attendance as per job requirements and Friendsviews policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience:
    • Basic skills can be learned in a relatively short period of time.
  • Supervising (direct reports and level of supervision): No supervisory responsibilities.
  • Decision Making: Clear set of operating processes or procedures.; work closely reviewed; judgment and decision-making is little to none; problem identification limited to own position.
  • Interpersonal Skills/Interactions: May have substantial, but limited contact with the residents and others. Communication and interpersonal skills are important and refined.

  • Verbal & written English language skills necessary to work safely in fast-paced environment with close proximity to co-workers & equipment.
  • Must be able to to get along with co-workers and supervisors to foster a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Must have appreciation for older adults and ability to interact in friendly and respectful manner at all times with residents and guests.
  • Must demonstrate qualities of a strong servant leader and team player who helps those served grow as persons, become wiser, freer and more autonomous; and still provides a systematic, data-oriented perspective to business decisions.

Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass the Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check and, if applicable, fingerprinting.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks.
  • Must be able to provide the official grade transcripts of the education level provided on the employment application.
  • Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation.
  • Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the US.
  • Must have valid drivers license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record (if required to drive).

 

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category II: Your tasks involve no routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or other contaminated materials. In the event of an unexpected blood, body fluid or tissue spill there will be an employee available who has been designated to take responsibility for clean-up and decontamination of potentially infectious body substances. You are not to come in contact with potentially infectious body substances.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Must be able to stand, walk and exert well-paced mobility for period of up to four (4) hours in length. Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs and use proper lifting skills. Sufficient manual-dexterity to manage dishes safely.
    • Works in a clean, well-lighted dining room and serving area of kitchen. Hazards typical to a food service kitchen (hot cooking surfaces, electrical equipment, wet floors, sharp objects and hazardous cleaning chemicals).

This position is Part Time Regular up to 29 hours per week ; vacation, sick, personal and retirement eligible.

Hourly Rate $11.53-$12.69 depending on experience.
