Friendsview Retirement Community is a not-for-profit Life Plan Community serving over 500 residents in Newberg, OR, with a mission to provide active residential living and quality continuing care to seniors in a Christ-centered community. This is a Full Time Regular position 30+ hours per week and fully benefited

 

Job Objective/ Summary: Performs a variety of routine and unskilled tasks in the maintenance and repair of facility and grounds.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Works from work orders or verbal instructions, as prioritized by department supervisor. Work may include light carpentry, household installation and repairs, equipment or furniture assembly, transporting items, cleaning areas inside or outside, run errands, snow removal, emergency response, etc.
  • Assists other department staff as assigned
  • May operate a variety of power and hand tools
  • Provides general maintenance services to facility staff, i.e. assemble furniture and accessories, move materials, set-up and take down.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a safe, clean and orderly condition
  • Follows standard and prescribed safety regulations
  • Adheres to Friendsview’s policies and procedures, including those covering privacy and security in compliance with HIPAA regulations, and codes of conduct. Maintains confidentiality and respects residents privacy at all times in accordance with HIPAA regulations.

  • Must be able to maintain consistent attendance as per job requirements and Friendsview’s policies.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • 0-2 years’ experience in the field or a related area.
    • Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field.
  • Supervising (direct reports and level of supervision): no supervision.
  • Decision Making: Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Works under immediate supervision. Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
  • Interpersonal Skills/Interactions: Communications are routine and non-routine in nature and require discussion. Communication and interpersonal skills are important and refined. Interacts with residents and people from other departments on a limited basis about routine issues.

Requirements:

  • Must successfully pass the Department of Human Services (DHS) criminal background check and, if applicable, fingerprinting.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
  • Must be able to pass the pre-employment reference checks.
  • Must be able to provide the official grade transcripts of the education level provided on the employment application.
  • Must be able to provide a copy of his/her own social security card for W-4 documentation.
  • Must be able to provide applicable documentation(s) for I-9 in order to establish identity and authorization to work in the US.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, personal automobile liability insurance, and acceptable driving record.

 

Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Category II: Your tasks involve no routine exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues, or other contaminated materials. In the event of an unexpected blood, body fluid or tissue spill there will be an employee available who has been designated to take responsibility for clean-up and decontamination of potentially infectious body substances. You are not to come in contact with potentially infectious body substances.

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform occasional, moderately heavy lifting (up to 35# without assistance), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; prolonged standing; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and significant fine finger dexterity.
  • Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under temperature extremes and in a generally hazard free environment walking, working from ladders, bending, stooping, reaching and twisting on a regular basis.
  • Must be able to see, hear, feel and smell within normal limits.
