Friendsview currently has openings for student workers who would work with residents helping them in the IT and Recreation and Administrative departments. We provide a continuum of health care and other quality services to active residents.Residents enjoy interacting with students, especially from George Fox University as you will find our residents have attended there themselves.Friendsview Retirement Community was founded by the Friends (Quaker) Church and those Christian values still serve as the foundation of our ministry.

We know as a student, your schedules of balancing the school and work life can be difficult, that is why we are dedicated to work with your schedules and are flexible to meet the needs of the student life and will help support you in reaching your academic goals.

This position has flexible hours up to 10 hours per week working with our Human Resources and Health Services Administrative Teams.

Essential Functions:

Marketing Department

  • Assists in putting together the new collateral when ready
  • Assists with various marketing events
  • Monthly Facebook posts
  • Updates Welcome Notebook
  • Assists with a spring photo shoot
  • REPS data entry

Health Services Department

  • Provides support to residents to enable participation in activities program
  • Leads or assists to lead resident activities as assigned
  • Provides ongoing, supportive assistance to residents during activities
  • Follows safety and other protocol during all activities
  • Follows instructions provided by activities director to meet the needs of specific residents during activities
  • Interacts with residents in respectful, courteous and friendly manner at all times
  • Maintains appropriate relationship with residents

Human Resources and Related Department Support

  • Assists with filing confidential employee information
  • Prepares new hire and benefit packets
  • Assists employees in completing on-line Relias training
  • Sets up employment interviews, calls references, supports new hire process as needed
  • Assists with organization-wide events
  • Assists with various HR projects

Independent Resident IT Support

  • Communicates clearly with residents regarding technology problems in a manner that conveys respect and a high level of customer service
  • Assisst residents to resolve technology problems in a timely manner
  • Maintains records regarding all tech support contacts according to Friendsviews standards and in accordance with Friendsview’s technology use policies
  • Upholds resident privacy and confidentially at all times
  • Follows established protocol for tech support in the business center and in individual resident apartments
  • Uses technology skills necessary to trouble shoot and resolve IT problems quickly and effectively
  • Responds with flexibility to immediate needs of older adult clients

Welcome Desk Support (Business Unit 17)

  • Greets and supports residents, staff and guests with a positive, can-do approach.
  • Answers phones; answers questions, problem-solves with and directs their customers effectively. If not able to answer a question or request, takes down pertinent information, including contact information to pass along to day staff.
  • Closes the phone system as per schedule; checks and directs main line voice mail messages; answers incoming phone calls, screens calls as necessary, redirects calls to the appropriate person; problem-solves phone call and phone system issues when there is a problem.
  • Enters work orders into facility work order system as requested, following protocols established by the Facility Services Department.
  • Does not share personal or work-related concerns with or in front of residents and visitors.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information

General Administrative Support (various departments)

  • Assist with routine clerical tasks such as filing, copying, etc
  • Assist with special projects including data entry, word documents, spreadsheets or electronic communications, using Microsoft Office products
  • Assists in planning and carrying out organizational events
  • Maintains confidentiality of information

 

Other Duties & Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the values of Friendsview Retirement Community: integrity, stewardship, compassion, community, excellence, dignity, service, Friends heritage.
  • Attends, participates in, and completes orientation, training and educational activities as required.
  • Dresses appropriately, following appropriate dress and uniform policies and guidelines.
  • Must be able to maintain regular and reliable attendance as per job requirements and Friendsview’s policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

  • Job Education, Licenses/Certifications, Knowledge & Experience:
    • Basic skills learned in a relatively short period of time
    • Student currently enrolled in college preferred
  • Supervising (direct reports and level of supervision): no supervisory responsibilities
  • Decision Making: Receives general supervision and a set of broadly understood position expectations. Decision-making with limited discretion, latitude, or negotiation. Assistance or resources are readily available.
  • Interpersonal Skills/Interactions: Interactions may be both one-on-one and in group settings, with own work group or other departments. Communications are routine and non-routine in nature and may require discussion. Communication and interpersonal skills are important and must be appropriate to the situation. May have contact with the public.
